Testimonials

"In the Resilient Families Program, I learned the meaning of resilience and how it impacts parents/caregivers and children. I learned critical key concepts about stress and how to overcome challenges. As a research assistant, I learned how to communicate with parents/caregivers effectively by directing them to the assistance they needed. I also learned how to coordinate interviews with them by listening to their feedback about the program and becoming more confident in their parenting skills. The Resilient Families program has been an essential asset in my life where I keep on enhancing new skills as a research assistant and as a student and my personal life."
    ~ Vianey Mendoza, RA, Fall 2020 - Spring 2021

“During my time working with the team members of the CSUF Resilient Families Program (RFP), I’ve had the great pleasure of engaging with many unique individuals who have touched my heart and expanded my understanding of resilience. As a child supervisor for the program, I have learned that the children’s enthusiasm to interact with each other and participate in activities that incorporate the RFP principles strengthens their ability to be resilient even at an early age. As a research assistant, I have observed the parents form a small, strong community of their own when they were sharing and giving feedback to each other during the session. Being able to witness an escalating shift of the parent-child relationship throughout the program in person and the lab is an experience that I hold dearly in both my personal and professional life. Overall, my involvement in the program impacted me more than I anticipated. This inspired me to put an emphasis on my career in helping children and their families build resilience in their lives. I will always be grateful for the wonderful colleagues, supervisors, and families that I worked with who have helped me grow as an academic and mental health advocate.”
    ~ Dallas Sullivan, RA, Fall 2019 - Spring 2020

"Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to be involved in RFP. It has really allowed me to slow down and be more mindful of the needs of my body. It has been a wonderful experience."
~ Omar Salazar, RA, Fall 2020

"I would like to mention how much of a great learning experience I have had at RFP! I learned so much about research and it has enhanced me to apply resiliency to my personal life!"
~ Stephanie Ceballos, RA, Spring 2018

"Being part of the RFP team enriched me with personal and professional experiences I will take with me onward. I am beyond grateful to have witnessed a group of dedicated women pave an empathetic approach for parents in Orange County. Professionally, I learned to communicate with a team whose sole purpose is to deliver a strength-based approach to parents seeking theirs and their children’s psychological well-being. Thanks to RFP, I have learned to create weekly agendas for and note-take during weekly team meetings, gather academic research, conduct interviews for research purposes and communicate properly vial email. Personally, I am delighted to state I have met people whom I have created endearing and long-lasting friendships with. Thank you to the dedicated RFP team for showing up everyday despite their inner struggles and tenebrous tribulations. May we all take the skills we learned from the program and implement them in our future endeavors."
