Research Findings

The Resilient Families Program has been implemented over 25 times across Orange County Head Start, Fullerton School District Preschool and TK, and HIS House, a homeless shelter for families in Placentia. For the past year, RFP has been implemented virtually via video recordings and zoom meetings. Data is collected with the families before and after they complete the program. Analyses of these data have shown significant improvement in executive function, social skills and behavioral problems for children post-intervention. For parents, the data have shown reductions in depressive symptoms, frequencies and intensities of daily hassles, and perceived stressors and improvements in parenting mindfulness and parent-child relationships. These results suggest positive changes in both children and parent’s wellbeing, which are critical for raising resilience in children and building healthy family functioning.
